Nettie Garner, 95, a resident of McDonald, Tennessee, passed away on Friday January 26, 2018.

She was born in Polk County, Tn., on Sept. 15, 1922, to the late Marshall and Nannie Weaver Millsap. She was of the Pentecostal belief and a member of the McDonald Senior Club. Many knew her for her unwavering faith and never ending pursuit of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nettie was an extremely gifted gardener, quilter, and homemaker. She was a strong woman who had a passion for helping others. Nettie will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Garner; grandson, Steven Lynn Myers; great-grandsons, Ryan Blake Moses and Jace Steven Taylor; sisters, Irene Millsap Freedman, Annie Lee Cain, Littie Millsap Kendrick, and Lula Millsap Garner; brother, Marshal Verlin Millsap; and loving daughter, Louise Newman (Wayne).

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, Lois Myers (Gary), James Garner (Pat), David Garner (Gail), and Norma Kelly; grandchildren, Angie Myers Taylor, Jeff Kelly, Jenny Garner Davis, Misty Kelly, and Chuck Garner; great-grandchildren, Sara Beth Davis, Brooke Taylor, Cowen Dean Kelly, Cody Moses, and Caroline Garner; and two special nieces and nephew, Evelyn and Mike Passmore, and Christine Pierce.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 29, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.

A celebration of life funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home with Minister Mark Barber officiating the service.

Following the service on Tuesday, Ms. Nettie will be laid to rest in the Lee Cemetery in McDonald, Tn.
