Rawls Wants Legislation Requiring Railroads Not To Block Rail Crossings For More Than 15 Minutes At A Time

  • Friday, January 5, 2018

Bradley County Commissioner Dan Rawls has submitted a resolution asking the state to pass legislation that would prevent railroads from blocking crossings for more than 15 minutes at a time.

He said several other states have similar legislation.

Commissioner Rawls said Bradley County citizens continue to have problems with blocked rail crossings.

He said it sometimes prevents emergency personnel from getting directly to their destination.

The commissioner said attempts to deal directly with the railroads on the issue have failed.

The commission meets on Monday.
