A man described as a validated member of the Bounty Hunters gang has been charged after police said he left a Brainerd Road parking lot at a high speed with a woman on the hood of the vehicle.
Ladaquis Southers, 33, of 810 Eddings St., was charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm while under the influence of an intoxicant.
In the incident on Saturday,an off-duty officer said he saw a woman on the hood of a car beating on the windshield. He said the driver pull the vehicle into reverse and the woman appeared to fall off.
He said the woman was then seen back on the hood as the driver took off at a high speed. The vehicle, which was being driven by Southers, was stopped by other officers.
Police told the woman that she could have been seriously injured or killed.
The woman, identified as an associate of the Bounty Hunters, said she should not have gotten on the hood, and said she did not want to press charges. She said she would not come to court on the case, saying, "They'll come after me."
