Corker Responds To Nomination Of Mike Pompeo For Secretary Of State

Senator Bob Corker released the following statement regarding President Donald J. Trump’s intention to nominate Mike Pompeo for Secretary of State:

 

“I had a very good conversation with Director Pompeo this morning and look forward to meeting with him soon.

As I shared with the president, the committee will consider his nomination as expeditiously as possible.

 

“I also want to thank Rex Tillerson for his tireless service to our country as Secretary of State. We have enjoyed a very good working relationship, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

 

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee expects to hold a hearing on the nomination in April. In January 2017, Mr. Pompeo was confirmed to serve as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) by a vote of 66 to 32.



Attic Fire Extinguished At Chestnut Wood Lane

Firefighters put out an attic fire at a residence  at 803 Chestnut Wood Lane on Monday evening. Dennis Thomason, deputy chief for the Tri-Community Fire Department, said, " We had a house fire this evening at  6:37 p.m.  The first unit on the scene reported smoke showing from the roof.  It took about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire in the attic and ... Home damaged By Fire Monday Evening

The Tri-Community Fire Department responded to a house fire at 803 Chestnut Wood Lane. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire in the attic area of the home. The fire was contained to the attic area. The estimated damage was approximately $20,000. There were no injuries.  The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.   ...
