Charles Hiram Burkhalter, 88, of the East Lake Community, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018.
Hiram was retired from Standard Coosa Thatcher, with over 30 years of service. He was a member of River of Life Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lillian Naomi Burkhalter; grandson, Kevin Daniel Yates; and several siblings, Ray Burkhalter, Marie Yarbrough, Christine Wilson, Sybil Simmons and Eileen Robbs.
Hiram is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rene’ and Charlie Bell; son, Chuck Burkhalter; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Burkhalter and wife Anne; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 1-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Hiram’s Life will follow at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the North Chapel, with her family members officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
