The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Cedar Ridge Road on April 3, regarding a seven-foot boa constrictor snake in a yard.

The owners were afraid it was in search of food and “hunting” for their chihuahua. Deputies arrived on the scene to investigate.

Upon locating the snake, deputies knew that Deputy Cory Spence had experience in handling snakes and reptiles. He arrived on the scene from the Detention Center and immediately took the snake into custody.

Mr. Spence turned the snake over to Sgt. Kory Bain, who found the snake a home at a refuge in Chatsworth.
