Stevenson, James Stuart (Trenton)

James Stuart Stevenson, 88, of Trenton, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 17, 2018. Born in Chattanooga, he was a well known pharmacist in the Chattanooga area and former owner of Trenton Drugs. A graduate of Baylor High School class of 1948, he went on to graduate from University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy in 1953 and Tennessee Temple in 1969. He was an active member of New Home Baptist Church, and had been an active member of the Gideons since 1961.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Wilson and Kimball Ruff Stevenson; son, James Merritt Stevenson; grandson, Caleb Stuart Michaels; and brother, Joe Wilson Stevenson Jr.

Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Virginia Stallings Stevenson of Trenton; daughters, Sue (John), of Southern California and Beth (Darrell) Michaels of Flat Rock, Al; sons, David Stevenson, of Chattanooga and Timmy Stevenson; step children, Pat (Verdell) McBryar, Martha (Ronnie) Gibson and Brent (Jackie) Ferguson; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dade County Giedons, PO Box 1309, Trenton, Ga. 30752.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday April 20 at New Home Baptist Church, with Rev. Johnny Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in New Home Baptist Cemetery.  Mr. Stevenson will lie in state one hour prior to service at New Home Baptist Church on Friday and from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton.

The Honorable Robert M. “Bob” Summitt, 94, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 16, 2018. Attorney Davis Says Other Driver In Styles Case Pulled Gun While Driving Wildly; Denies Radio Host "Blacked Out"

Attorney Lee Davis said the other driver in a Friday road rage incident in Hixson pulled a gun on radio personality Jeff Styles while driving wildly.  He denied that the talk show host blacked out.  Jeff Styles, who was shot in the forearm, was charged with aggravated assault and vandalism.
