Red Bank's Hannah Wood Named FCA Athlete Of The Year

Red Bank High School’s Hannah Wood was named the Chattanooga Area FCA Christian Athlete of the Year at the ministry’s annual Day of Champions on Sunday afternoon. 

Wood has excelled in both volleyball and basketball for the Lionettes earning multiple all-district and all-region awards.  She signed with Berry College to continue her softball career.  Central’s Haylee Smith who played soccer for the Lady Pounders was the runner up.  Both ladies will receive partial scholarships from the ministry. 

In other awards presented at Day of Champions, Soddy Daisy’s Girls Basketball Coach Drew Lyness was named the Jim Sattler Leadership Award winner.  Coach Lyness has been heavily involved with FCA since he attended Red Bank High School more than a dozen years ago.

Howard High baseball coach Jon Johnson was presented the Legacy Builder Coaches Award.    Over the last few years, Johnson has completely revived Howard baseball-rallying supporters throughout the city to help rebuild their field while instilling character values in his athletes. 

Calvary Baptist Church was awarded the FCA Church partner of the year for the outstanding support they have given to Red Bank High School’s FCA through the tireless efforts of Youth Pastor Aaron McGuirt.   Richard Hardy Middle School’s Sydney Boggs was awarded the Judy Fowler Leadership Award as the top middle school leader in the FCA region.
