CHCRTA Reminds Students To Apply For Scholarships By April 12

The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association today released a reminder notice to encourage students to submit an application for one of several scholarships to be awarded in May. The deadline for all CHCRTA Scholarship is Thursday, April 12 at 5 p.m. 
 
In 2018, a total of $10,000 will be awarded to recipients preparing to enter the teaching profession or to further their graduate studies. Applicants for each scholarship must match the qualifying criteria.

The Margaret Ferger Scholarship and the AALANA Scholarship are offered to high school students attending a public school in Hamilton County.

The CHCRTA Scholarship for Aspiring Educators at UTC will be awarded to a rising senior majoring or minoring in education.

The CHCRTA Mary and Paul Starnes Scholarship will be awarded to an applicant enrolling in a graduate level course furthering their leadership skills in education. 
 
Students may receive information from Hamilton County School Counselors and College Access Advisors on the high school level; on the college level, contact Dr. Renee Murley, director, School of Education at UTC.   

Scholarship applications are also available online from the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga at http://www.cfgc.org/scholarship.  The scholarships are posted under the tab “Available Scholarships” and “Non-Community Foundation Scholarship Opportunities.”
