Special agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged a Dickson woman in connection to the ongoing investigation into the death Wednesday morning of a deputy of the Dickson County Sheriff’s Department.

At the request of 23rd District Attorney General Ray Crouch, TBI special agents, working jointly with multiple other local, state, and federal agencies, continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the on-duty homicide of Dickson County Sergeant Daniel Baker.

During the course of the investigation, authorities developed information that Erika Castro-Miles, 39, participated in the incident.

On Wednesday evening, agents charged Ms. Castro-Miles, who was detained in the early stages of the investigation, with one count of first-degree murder. She was being held at the Dickson County Jail.

An additional person-of-interest in Sgt. Baker’s death, Steven Wiggins (an acquaintance of Ms. Castro-Miles), remains at-large and should be considered armed and dangerous. Wiggins remains the subject of a Tennessee Blue Alert and has also been added to the state’s Top 10 Most Wanted list. There is currently a reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to his arrest.

On Thursday, Governor Bill Haslam announced a $2,500 reward for information leading to the apprehension, arrest and conviction of Wiggins.

Sgt. Baker was found dead inside his vehicle around 7 a.m. Wednesday on Sam Vineyard Road in Dickson County after responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Sgt. Baker, 32, was a former Marine and served as a Dickson County Sheriff’s deputy since 2008.

Governor Haslam said, “Crissy and I are praying for the family of Sgt. Baker who died in the line of duty while bravely serving the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office. I commend the joint effort of state and local law enforcement as they tirelessly search for the suspect, even as they mourn the loss of one of their own. We urge anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward to help bring closure to this crime.”

District Attorney General Ray Crouch of the 23rd Judicial District requested the reward from the governor to help generate information in this case. More than $12,000 additional reward money is also being offered from other agencies.
