Laura Lee Kelley Adams, 57, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning, August 18, 2018, in Weston, Colorado.
Laura was a graduate of Bright School, and attended GPS, UTC, and UTK, from which she received several undergraduate degrees. She received her master’s in Sociology from Memphis University, and did her doctorate coursework at North Carolina State. For most of her life, she was an avid dog lover working with rescue organizations, primarily for Australian Shepherd breeds, as well as being an ardent supporter of The Rainbow Family and the Democratic Party, along with serving as an election official in North Carolina.
She and her husband Steve lived much of their married life in Wendell, N.C., a suburb of Raleigh, before moving to Colorado in late 2016 to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren living in Monument, Co.
Laura worked primarily in technology project management for Cisco while in North Carolina, along with several other tech companies based there.
She was preceded in death by her father, Judge Ralph Kelley and is survived by her mother, Barbara Fahl Kelley, her husband, Steve Adams, two sisters, Ellen Kelley and Karen Grimes-Kelley (married to David Grimes) of Seymour, Tn.; as well as by numerous cousins, step-children, and step-grandchildren.
There will be a service held at Christ Church, Episcopal (corner of McCallie and Douglas), on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 4 p.m.. with The Reverend John Bonner, Jr., as officiant, along with The Reverend David C. Cobb, interim rector.
Following her request, ashes will be strewn over the Colorado mountains she had grown to love, as well as in Christ Church cloister garden alongside her father. Visitation in Fox Hall will follow the interment.
