Hospice of Chattanooga is accepting applications for Teen Retreat 2018, a one-day retreat on Saturday, Oct. 20, designed especially for adolescents ages 13 to 18, who have experienced the death of a relative or close friend.
"No emotion is off limits and no topic is too tough for Hospice of Chattanooga staff and volunteers, all of whom are experienced and specially trained in the grieving process," officials said.
Using the theme "Remember Me," this free Healing Hearts grief recovery program will be held at Nature Center at Reflection Riding, 400 Garden Road.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the retreat lasts from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Parking and program are free and open to any child in the community who has experienced death.
Teen Retreat experiences include sharing, art, outdoor activities, drumming, music and more on this day of healing and reflection. Lunch and snacks are provided. Any required medications must be given to medical personnel at check-in. Apply sunscreen before arriving at retreat.
Hospice of Chattanooga will also host a special adult support session from 9-11:30 a.m. for parents, guardians and adult sponsors of teens. This time is designed to help adults understand their child’s grief and talk about their own. Organizers urge applicants to register now as space is limited. Application deadline is Oct. 1.
