County Clerk's Office Approved To Renew Handgun Carry Permits

County Clerk Bill Knowles announced the Clerk’s 201 Courthouse Office has been approved by the Tennessee Department of Safety/Homeland Security to receive renewal applications for a Handgun Carry Permit. 


Mr. Knowles said, “The County Clerk’s office has contracted with the Tennessee Department of Safety to accept renewal applications for a Handgun Carry Permit to those previously meeting State requirements.

This new service can only be performed at the Clerk’s 201 Courthouse office. Applicants are advised when entering the Courthouse they must leave their weapon behind. The cost for applying is $54.00.  Upon approval by the Department of Safety/Homeland Security the renewed permit will be mailed to the applicant from Nashville.”

 

A permit holder wishing to apply for a lifetime Handgun Carry Permit is required to apply at one of the Driver’s License test stations.  A name change due to marriage or an address change can only be made when making application to renew.
