Chattanooga Softball Hosts Three Game Series With Mercer

The top two teams in the Southern Conference meet this weekend at Frost Stadium. Chattanooga holds a one game lead over Mercer in the league softball standings and will look to build on that lead. Saturday’s doubleheader begins at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday’s game is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start.

Chattanooga will travel to Nashville for a matchup against Tennessee State on Tuesday, April 23.

UTC returns to Frost Stadium to host Furman in a three-game weekend series beginning April 27. The Mocs will close out the home slate on Tuesday, April 30 at home against Georgia State in a make up game.

The Mocs hold a one-game lead over Mercer and will clash with the Bears at Frost Stadium this weekend. The Mocs lead the SoCon with a .317 batting average and a hits with 336. UTC also ranks first in the SoCon for on base percentage (.400) and doubles with 59. UTC ranks fifth in the NCAA for double plays turned with 25 and is the SoCon leader for caught stealing with 14.

Camryn Cernuto leads the SoCon in sacrifice hits with 14 and is second in the NCAA. She leads the Mocs with a .366 batting average and runs with 31. She is third in the SoCon with three triples and fourth in stolen bases with 15. Kendall Forsythe is sixth in the SoCon with a .362 batting average followed by Kailey Snell (.359) and Addy Keylon (.356). Kaili Phillips has a team-best nine home runs, ranking fourth in the SoCon and Olivia Lipari is ranked seventh with seven long rangers. Phillips is third in the league standings with a team-best .758 slugging percentage and second in on base percentage at .507. She leads the SoCon in hit by pitch with 14 on the year and is second on the NCAA active career leader list with 57.

The Bears swept Furman in three games and went 2-1 against Wofford and Western Carolina while dropping its series against ETSU 1-2. Mercer is third in the SoCon with a .279 batting average, second for home runs (37) and third with 178 runs batted in.

Emma Dorval ranks second in the SoCon with a team-leading .370 batting average and Alyssa Woods is second on the team at .354. Tori Hedgecock has a SoCon-leading 17 home runs and 48 RBI.
