Neva Clark and Corina Vale continue what has been a dominant back stretch of their 2024 season up to this point for Chattanooga beach volleyball, as the pair received the honor of being named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Pair of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Clark and Vale are coming off a week in which the two finished 4-1 for the Mocs in the team’s No. 1 pairing, earning crucial victories for UTC to help Chattanooga carry on an active win streak of 10 consecutive match wins, a program record.
All four of Clark and Vale’s wins this week came in the form of two-set sweeps, while the pair’s lone loss of the week was a narrow three-set thriller in UTC’s match versus Tusculum.
Among their victories were two clinching wins in each of Chattanooga’s matches against Austin Peay on April 5 and 6. The Court 1 duo also played a major role in securing the Mocs a 3-2 victory over UT Martin, pushing Chattanooga up into a tie for first in the Ohio Valley Conference standings.
The award marks the fifth time of Clark’s career that she was honored in OVC’s Pair of the Week awards, while Vale, a freshman, has now won the honor twice this season alongside Clark.
Clark, Vale and the rest of Chattanooga beach volleyball won’t return to action until April 17, with the Mocs hosting Eastern Kentucky and North Alabama for a Wednesday doubleheader at the UTC Sports Complex. Start times for those two matches are slated for 1 pm ET and 5 pm ET, respectively.
