Annis Sue Henley, 77, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

A lifelong resident of Chattanooga and of the Baptist faith, she was born on Sept. 23, 1946, to Sam F. and Ora Lee Cole Dillard. She attended Kirkman High School class of 1964 and upon graduation entered into nursing at Erlanger through the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She later returned to UTC and obtained her bachelor’s degree. She worked as a registered nurse becoming acquainted with doctors who encouraged her to work for them. She was office manager for Plastic Surgery Group, and she later became the office manager for University Surgical Associates for many years before serving in the same capacity for Dr. Jim Shire at Shire Facial Plastic Surgery.

She was an avid master gardener and for years was active with the Master Gardeners of Hamilton County. She delighted in showing off her flowers and garden to all that came to her house. She was active until a stroke disabled her in January of 2023.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sam Dillard; mother, Ora Lee Dillard; brother, Claude Dillard and sister, Nellie Dillard Casson.

Sue leaves behind a husband, David B. Henley; daughter, Susan (Bill) Underwood.; one grandson Sam Underwood that she was so proud and adored greatly; brother, Larry (Anita) Dillard and brother-in-law, Richard (Lee) Henley; several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Hearth Hospice and special friends, Donna Adams and Charlie and Lisa Smith for all they done for Annis and the family.
