The community is invited to celebrate the holiday season with a special concert event on Sunday, Nov. 6, Homecoming with Glenn Draper and His Singers at The Tivoli Theatre at 3 p.m.
This concert reunites singers and musicians from across the country who have performed with Dr. Draper throughout his more than 50 years in music. Country music sensation Lee Greenwood will make a guest appearance at the celebration.
Mr. Greenwood has had numerous hits on the country music charts and is best known for the anthem God Bless the USA.
The concert features more than 200 singers including the Keesler Air Force Base Male Chorus, Pfeiffer College, The University of Miami, Florida; the Lake Junaluska Singers from North Carolina, the First Presbyterian Church Choir (Chattanooga,) and the Chattanooga Singers and Singing Mocs from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Under Dr. Draper’s direction, the singers have performed on The Ed Sullivan Show, “The Hour of Power” television broadcast, with Billy Graham’s world ministries and at Carnegie Hall. He has made numerous appearances at the White House during his career including an invitation to appear at this year’s Christmas celebration for President Barack Obama.
He has also taken singers across the globe, performing throughout the United Kingdom, the former Soviet Union, Indonesia and the world-famous Sydney Opera House in Australia.
The music program will consist of both sacred and secular choral music under the direction of Dr. Draper and a variety of guest conductors. The concert will also be televised for broadcast on Christmas Day (check local listings).
The concert is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the Glenn Draper Endowment Funds to further the education of other young singers and musicians who plan to follow in Dr. Draper’s footsteps.
