DA Republican Primary May Pit 2 Current Members Of The Office Against One Another

  • Thursday, October 10, 2013

The contest to succeed Bill Cox as district attorney could pit two current members of his staff against one another in the Republican primary election next May.

Sources said both Neal Pinkston and Boyd Patterson have been making rumblings about running, though neither has formally announced.

Mr. Cox announced recently that he would not run for an eight-year term in the upcoming election.

Mr. Pinkston is the top assistant to Mr. Cox and has handled a number of high-profile cases.

Mr. Patterson left the DA's office to serve as the head of the Gang Task Force during the Ron Littlefield administration. After the new administration of Mayor Andy Berke did not continue the Gang Task Force, Mr. Patterson returned to the DA's office.
