Average retail gasoline prices in Chattanooga have risen 1.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.17 per gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 170 gas outlets in Chattanooga. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.25 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Chattanooga during the past week, prices Sunday were 2.7 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 11.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has decreased 1.3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 14.2 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago.
"With the Thanksgiving behind us it appears that a nominal decline in retail gasoline prices will ring in the first week of December for most parts of the country," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski. "With the government's report of healthy fuel inventories and U.S. refinery output reaching its highest level since early October, the savings at the pump is coming just in time."
