Woodell, Marvin Willis (Spring City)

Marvin Willis Woodell, 83, of Spring City, TN and formerly of Cleveland, TN, passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 in a Spring City health care facility. 

Mr. Woodell was the son of the late Gladys Rowena Baldwin Woodell and Gilbert Martin “G. M.” Woodell; and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Beulah Hubbard, Clara Bushman, Evelyn Lorren and Mildred Woodell; and his brothers, Carl Woodell and Remus McCraney.

Mr. Woodell was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a retired self-employed contractor and painter with many years of service. He enjoyed good food and being with his family. Mr. Woodell was known to have a beautiful voice and he loved to sing! He was a huge Barbara Mandrel Fan. Mr. Woodell was of the Seventh Day Adventist Faith.

Survivors include his daughters, Joy Cliett and her husband Wayne of Harrison, TN, Karen Kurtz and her husband Mark of Pine Mountain Valley, GA and Carmen Buckner and her husband Lee of Cleveland; his sons, Scott Woodell and his wife Beth of Chickamauga and Sam Woodell and his wife Kim of McDonald; his grandchildren, Melissa Tracy and her husband Will, Hope Cliett, Sarah Buckner, Trey Buckner, Jennifer Moore and her husband Matt, Gabriel Lane, Josh and John Guthrie; his great- grandchildren, Seth and Emma Tracy; his sister, Jeanne Edgmon of Collegedale; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Thursday, July 18 at 11 a.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes Pastor Alan Lovelace officiating. Graveside services and Interment will be conducted Thursday, July 18 at 1 p.m. from the U. S. National Cemetery in Chattanooga with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be given. A Dove release will conclude the services. 

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.
