Former Central High School head football coach John Allen has been placed on administrative suspension from his duties as head football coach at Powell High School, according to Melissa Ogden, public affairs officer with Knox County Schools.
A news release from the county's Central Schools Office said, "Coach Allen has been placed on administrative suspension from coaching pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of unnecessarily placing students at risk of injury.
The matter has been referred to the Department of Children’s Services. Mr. Allen remains a teacher of economics and personal finance at Powell."
The Powell football team is currently 1-7 (1-4, District 6A) going into tonight's game with Oak Ridge.

Larry Neely has been named interim head coach.
