Mocs Fall To New Hampshire 35-30 In FCS Playoffs

The Chattanooga Mocs football team could not overcome poor special teams play despite 566 offensive yards Friday night in their FCS quarterfinal match up at New Hampshire. 

The New Hampshire Wildcats scored two touchdowns within three minutes Friday night in the final quarter giving them a 35-24 lead.  The Wildcats held of the Mocs in the final minutes to win 35-30.

Both teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter.

The Mocs scored twice in the second quarter to take a 21-15 lead going into halftime.

New Hampshire took a 22-1 lead in the third quarter and the Mocs regained the lead with a Henrique Ribeiro field goal.

The Wildcats capitalized on an interception early in the fourth and scored touchdowns with 14:52 left in the game and then 13:23.  The gave New Hampshire a 35-24 lead.

UTC marched down the field on their final possession to cut the lead to 35-30 with 1:32 left in the game.  The Wildcats recovered the onside kick and were able to run out the clock.

The Mocs had 566 yards on offense.  Jacob Huesman was 28 of 37 passing for 335 yards.  Huesman also rushed for 93 yards.  Keon Williams rushed for 76 yards.

The Mocs end the season with a 10-4 record and an first ever appearance in the FCS quarterfinals.

New Hampshire improves to 11-1.  The Wildcats were the top seed in the FCS tournament.
