John James Kazanowski died at Alexian Village, Signal Mountain on March 23, 2014.

He was born April 28, 1925, in Manchester, N.H., and resided there during his formative years. He joined the Navy a week before his 18th birthday and served in World War II.The G.I. Bill of Rights enabled him to attend the University of New Hampshire where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1950. John married Alice Mary Mulligan on Sept. 11, 1948. He was involved in many community activities and served as Charter President of the Rochester NH Jaycees.

John had a long career with General Electric taking his family from Somersworth, N.H., to New Orleans, Corpus Christi, Tx., and finally to Chattanooga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanislaw and Maryanna Lesniak Kazanowski, his siblings, Kay Butler, Ann Voisard, Mary Larson and Eleanor Norelli, and his wife, Alice Mulligan Kazanowski.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Kazanowski of Bloomington, Mn., Ann Elizabeth Berg and husband, Mark Berg of Louisville; Janey Kaster and husband, Kevin Kaster of Foster City, Ca., and son David and wife, Theresa Kazanowski of Avondale Estates, Ga.; grandchildren, Catherine Scott, Adam Sexter, Matthew Sexter; Christopher, Brian and Rose Kazanowski; Elizabeth Minor and Julianne Berg; great-grandchildren, Riley and Samantha Scott; and Aaron and Hanna Minor, sister, Violet Laundry and special friend and companion, Arlene Rucker.

A memorial funeral mass will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at the Alexian Village Chapel, Signal Mountain. The interment will be at 3 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
