Chattanooga Mocs rising junior Emily McLennan is in the finals of the 82nd Tennessee Women’s Amateur at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville. McLennan has breezed through her half of the bracket.
McLennan was seventh in stroke play qualifying at 5-over par 147.
She turned in rounds of 75 (+4) and 72 (+1) to set up an opening match with a familiar opponent.
Teammate Sarah Dolmovich was the initial foe. McLennan got by her fellow Moc 4&3 before dispatching Lincoln Memorial’s Lindy Mae McGuire 7&6.
That set up a Thursday morning meeting with Lee’s redshirt freshman Sam Burrus which was a 3&1 win for the Aussie. She wasted no time winning her semifinal matchup with Brentwood amateur Lynda Wimberly by a decisive 8&6 total.
McLennan heads to the tee at 9 a.m., Friday morning facing Kendall Martindale. Martindale, a 2014-15 senior at Vanderbilt, is a two-time winner of the event in 2009 and 2011. She topped A.J. Newell 2&1 in the semis.
