Tailgate-A-Palooza To Benefit Chattanooga Area Food Bank

  • Thursday, September 11, 2014

First Volunteer Bank is holding a Food Drive for the Chattanooga AreaFood Bank as part of the Bank’s September promotion, “Tailgate-a-Palooza”. The food drive will run the month of September and be celebrated with the Bank’s Tailgate Day on Sept. 26 when all of the branches hold tailgate parties.

All five of the Chattanooga branches plan to fill the bed of pickup trucks at each location with food for the Food Bank. Food can be dropped off at offices on Broad St., Hixson Pk., Hwy, 58, Gunbarrel Road and Shallowford Road during normal banking hours.  Last year’s Tailgate-a-Palooza generated 30,000 cans of food.

“We are excited to be working in partnership with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank in helping them feed 20,000 people weekly”, stated First Volunteer President and CEO Patti Steele. “They do wonderful work in our community and we are hopeful that our contribution will help fulfill some of the need,” Ms. Steele added.

"The Chattanooga Area Food Bank is committed to leading a network of partners in eliminating hunger and promoting better nutrition in our region. The CAFB acquires and distributes healthy food across a 20-county service region including Tennessee and Northwest Georgia with help from its network of over 300 partner agencies. Last year alone, the CAFB distributed over 12 million pounds of food and served over 20,000 people each week. In addition to food provision, the CAFB works to engage the public in the fight to end hunger and empower people to take responsibility for their health and their lives," officials said.
