The ranks of the Dalton Police Department grew by one on Thursday as new officer Adolfo Miranda was sworn in by Chief Jason Parker. Officer Miranda’s swearing in and badge pinning ceremony took place in front of fellow officers and employees in the department’s roll call room.

Officer Miranda was born and raised in Chicago. He is a 2012 graduate of Northeastern Illinois University where he played one year of soccer before an injury ended his career. Mr.

Miranda received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

He moved to Dalton earlier this year to join the Dalton Police Department, but he did not choose northwest Georgia at random as the place to begin his career in law enforcement. His wife Adilenne is from the Dalton area.
