PlayCore employees gathered around the playground with the new engineered wood fiber flooring.
PlayCore, an organization that provides dynamic play and recreation opportunities, celebrated their 2014 Employee Day of Caring on Friday and Saturday by dedicating it to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga, a non-profit that strives to be a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill or injured children, by providing a new playground surface and cleaning their kitchen and dens.
Jane Askew, PlayCore employee said, “I’ve always heard how great the Ronald McDonald House was but I didn’t appreciate it until I saw it. I’m so glad I stayed for the tour; our community is blessed to have such a wonderful resource with a caring staff.
The old playground pea gravel was replaced with engineered wood fiber, a much more manageable surface for children to play on, said officials. PlayCore employees Jesse Taylor, Matt Brandon and Dale Tuder worked all day on Friday, and on Saturday, the rest of the PlayCore team came to put together the finishing touches.
Jane Kaylor, president and CEO of RMHC of Greater Chattanooga, said, “Ronald McDonald House was delighted to have the support of Team PlayCore on Friday and Saturday to accomplish two vital projects. The pea gravel surface of the playground, which was hard for the children to navigate, was replaced by engineered wood fiber. The other part of the team tackled the kitchen/den areas on each of the resident room floors to give them a great fall cleaning and organizing.”
RMHC was delighted by the generosity of the PlayCore employees. For more information on how to get involved with RMHC, logon to www.rmhchattanooga.com.
