The medical news for Soddy-Daisy defensive back Jacob Lemons, injured in Friday night's game at Ooltewah, was good on Saturday.
Lemons suffered an apparent neck injury in the first quarter and lay motionless on the field while being attended by trainers. After a 23-minute wait, Lemons was placed on a cart, wheeled to an ambulance and transported to a local hospital.
Trojans coach Justin Barnes said Saturday that Lemons' injury appears to be muscle related and there was no evidence of problems with his neck.
"I went to the hospital after the game," Barnes said, "and we were told it was muscular and nothing to do with bones. He was told to rest for a week and he could resume practice and playing after that."
Soddy-Daisy (2-1, 0-1 District 5-AAA) is off this week, so Lemons is not expected to miss any games, the coach said.
"Everyone was relieved with the news that there was no problem withbones in his back,"Barnes said. "We got some good news."
