October League Of Women Voters Meeting Features Stewart Clifton

  • Tuesday, October 13, 2015
The Chattanooga members-at-large unit of the League of Women Voters of Tennessee will continue its schedule of programs on Monday, 5:30 p.m. in the Training Room, Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd, with Stewart Clifton, speaking on  “Issues Facing the Next TN General Assembly—and How You Can Have A Voice”.  The meeting is free, and open to all interested citizens.

Mr. Clifton, an attorney and government relations professional who specializes in representing Tennessee nonprofits in the legislature, including the League of Women Voters of Tennessee, will discuss issues facing the next General Assembly.
He will also give an introduction to how the legislature actually functions and help to dispel misconceptions. Mr. Clifton will also discuss ways that interested citizens can best impact public policy decisions.

Joan Hamner, president of the local League of Women Voters members-at-large unit said, “This is a great opportunity for us to educate ourselves in greater depth on how our legislature operates. We hope that members will attend, but also invite others who might be interested.”

Interested individuals do not have to be LWV members to attend the program. However, the local unit is continuing to recruit members, and applications will be available at the meeting.

The monthly meetings of the LWV are now being held on the third Monday of each month in the Training Room of the Business Development Center. Park in the Renaissance Park parking lot across the street, not the BDC’s lot.

The League of Women Voters is a political organization supporting no party and no candidate, open to both men and women, encouraging informed and active participation in government.
