The Ringgold Downtown Development Authority and Convention and Visitor's Bureau will host a Veteran’s Day Celebration featuring the Jericho Brass, Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. as part of Ringgold's annual Fall Festival of Flags.

The free event, at the Historic Ringgold Depot, 155  Depot St., will feature a patriotic performance by the Jericho Brass, a 32-piece traditional brass band. Frank Hale will direct.

The Jericho Brass is an all-volunteer ensemble, Jericho Brass is made up of professional and college trained musicians from the Tri-State area.  The group performs regularly at civic functions, churches, schools and other public venues.  Smaller outreach groups from the Jericho membership also perform at nursing homes, school assemblies, churches and libraries.

In addition to the traditional brass band literature, Jericho Brass performs marches, orchestral transcriptions, popular tunes, hymns, and sacred selections, as well as patriotic favorites.

The band has performed all across the South, including concerts in Memphis, Greenville, S.C., Charleston, W.V., and Atlanta and two concert tours to England, performing in Huddersfield, Bournemouth, London and Dublin, Ireland.

Jericho Brass is a member of Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga. For more information, visit www.jerichobrassband.org.

Ringgold’s Festival of Flags is displayed twice a year and honors the deceased veterans of Catoosa County.  Each flag represents one county resident who has died that served in the military, according to Ringgold Mayor Joe Barger.

The local Veteran of Foreign Wars post started the flag tradition more than 30 years ago to honor veterans who have died. The project is now stewarded by Ringgold through the help of volunteers from around the county, Mayor Barger said.

The concert will be inside the Depot. Seating is available but bring a seat cushion. Concessions will be available for sale.
