The Chattanooga History Center will present U.S. Senator Bob Corker with its 10th Annual History Makers Award on Monday. The award recognizes local individuals or groups who have made significant contributions to Chattanooga, the region, the state or the country.
"Chattanooga has been successful because of its outstanding and engaged citizens, so I am honored to be mentioned among many whom I respect so much and look forward to celebrating our community and the work of the Chattanooga History Center," said Senator Corker.
In 2012, Tennesseans elected Senator Corker to his second term in the U.S. Senate, where he serves as chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and is an active member of the Banking Committee and Budget Committee. Senator Corker was Tennessee’s commissioner of finance and mayor of Chattanooga, but he spent most of his life in business. It’s that results-driven businessman’s perspective that allowed him to make a mark early in the Senate where he is considered a pragmatic thought leader on the issues Tennesseans care about most, said officials.
