Three employees of Firehouse Subs on Lee Highway said they were able to pick out an armed robber from a photo lineup due to his "very blue" eyes.

The employees said the man, who was later identified as 22-year-old Jacob Charles Eich, also walked with a distinctive limp.

Charges of aggravated robbery were bound to the Grand Jury against Eich and Candice Freeman, 24. They are also charged with separate burglaries.

Police said Ms. Freeman was a former employee of the Firehouse Subs unit.

The employees said a man who had a hood over his head and a scarf over the lower part of his face came into the store at closing time on Jan. 18. He walked to the side of the counter and said, "Give me your money. I've got a gun."

He displayed a black pistol that turned out to be a pellet pistol "that looks very real."

The robber was given several hundred dollars from the register at the counter. He asked for money from a second register that was back at the safe. An employee went to get it, but he was gone when she returned.

Employees said a female opened the door for Eich as he left.

Video showed the couple leaving in a dark-colored SUV.

Police said they first had no leads in the case, then they received a call giving them the names of Eich and Ms. Freeman.

Investigator Kendon Massengale said he went to talk with the woman who called. She said the pair had been living with her daughter and had used the daughter's Subaru in the holdup.

The woman pointed to the gun used in the robbery, which was wrapped in a towel on a coffee table.

The woman said Ms. Freeman had been at her house the day before bragging about the robbery. She said she dropped off the gun at that time.

Investigator Massengale said Eich denied involvement in the robbery. He said he noticed that Eich had a limp.

He said he had difficulty getting Ms. Freeman in for an interview. When she finally came in, she confessed and said Eich was involved, he said.

Judge Lila Statom set the bond for Eich at $200,000 and the bond for Ms. Freeman at $50,000.

They were represented by appointed attorneys Andrew Coyle and Garth Best.
