District Attorney Neal Pinkston said Tuesday that new fingerprint evidence links Marlon Duane Kiser to the patrol car of slain Deputy Donald Bond.
His office said, "In March of this year, defense counsel for Marlon Kiser requested District Attorney General Neal Pinkston have law enforcement re-examine previously unidentified latent prints from the original investigation.
"Specifically, Kiser’s attorneys asked that unidentifiable latent finger and palm prints lifted from Deputy Donald Bond’s patrol car and flashlight be searched against Tennessee’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) database.
"As a result of this request, a previously unidentified print lifted from the driver’s side door of Deputy Bond’s patrol car has now been matched to Marlon Kiser."
Kiser, who is on Death Row for the murder, is asking a new trial.
Judge Don Poole is handling the post-conviction hearing in which several defense witnesses tried to blame a Kiser roommate.
