  • Thursday, June 18, 2015

There will be a day of prayer Thursday at the Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center for the victims' families and the churches that have been terrorized in Charleston and Memphis.

The sanctuary will be opened until 5:30 p.m. for anyone needing a place to pray. Pastor Brian Merritt will be available for anyone needing to talk.

There will be a prayer service in the sanctuary at 5:30 p.m.

Following that service, the center will close so that staff and community members can attend a prayer vigil at Renaissance Presbyterian Church that begins at 7 p.m.

The Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center at St. Andrews is a ministry of the Presbytery of East Tennessee and is devoted to advancing social justice in Chattanooga and the South. The center is at 1918 Union Ave. and is open Tuesday through Friday, noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For more information about the center or events, call 629-9872 or email administration@mercyjunctioncenter.org.
