Over the weekend, the Humane Educational Society was asked to assist in an animal seizure by a Bledsoe County animal welfare organization. The local organization did not have the resources to take in all of the needy animals whose owner passed away, leaving no one to take care of them. Thanks to generous community members who donate regularly to the society's special needs fund, HES was able to step in and protect these animals from neglect.
HES took in a total of 10 dogs, the majority of whom are suffering from skin infections as a result of being kept soaking in their own feces in cramped quarters.
Officials said, "Most of the dogs have been totally shaved because of filthy mats in their fur. The dogs now receive daily medicine baths to soothe their raw skin and lots of love to heal their hearts. Every day, we see heartbreaking cases of abuse, neglect and mistreatment of animals. It is our mission to heal these animals and help them find peace in their new forever homes."
