Three Mocs Named To College Sports Madness Preseason All-American Team

  • Friday, August 21, 2015
Three members of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team were on the College Sports Madness Preseason All-American squad, the online publication announced this week.

This is the first national recognition for junior defensive back Dee Virgin.  A two-year starter at corner, Virgin made the third team.

He led the Mocs and was third in the SoCon with 12 passes defended in 2014.  He has played in all 26 games over the last two seasons, and is expected to be one of the leaders in a talented secondary this season.

Already a consensus preseason All-American, junior offensive lineman Corey Levin was a second team selection.
Senior quarterback Jacob Huesman was a third team pick, grabbing his second preseason nod.

Four Mocs have garnered some type of preseason All-American recognition heading into 2015.  Sophomore safety Lucas Webb is the other, who made the STATS FCS third team.

Chattanooga is coming off its best campaign in school history, with a 10-4 record and an appearance in the FCS Quarterfinals last year.  UTC is picked to win its third-straight SoCon title this season and is ranked No. 8 in the nation heading into the year.

The Mocs open with a huge matchup against No. 7 Jacksonville State on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Finley Stadium.  This is the first time two Top 10 teams meet at Finley in the regular season.  Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) and tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com or by calling the UTC Ticket Office at (423) 266-MOCS (6627).
