Gertrude Stella Hampton, 91, of Etowah, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015.
She was born on October 21, 1923 to the late Alfred and Mamie Sylvester. She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County. Gertrude was a very hard worker, loved reading the Bible and listening to gospel music, spending time with her grandchildren, and was an avid TN Vols football fan.
In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harvey Hampton; sons, James David Hampton and Larry Don Hampton; and daughter, Judith Ann Hampton.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gaddis (Jimmy); brother, Jimmy Sylvester (Brenda); sister, Carrie-Lee O’Daniel; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 at Green Hill Cemetery in Etowah, TN.
