Rome, Ga. – Two of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ top teams are tied for the lead after the first day of the Chick-Fil-A Intercollegiate Women’s Golf Tournament at the 5866 yards, par 72 Stonebridge Golf Club.
No. 6 Dalton State (310) and No. 4 SCAD-Savannah (310) share a three-stroke lead over the hosts from NCAA Division III No. 10 ranked Berry College (313).
The tournament is the usual format of five players with the low four each day counting. The Roadrunner counting scores came from Caroline Griffin (74), Isabel Rijos (76), Katie Dalton (79), and Tia Teiniketo (80). Hannah Gasaway carded an 84.
Three Dalton State players are playing the course as individuals. Carly Shane (74) is tied with Griffin for second after the first day. Rachel Rebne shot a 79 and Haejin Choe carded an 86.
The two-day, 36-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday. There are 12 teams and a total of 69 golfers competing.
