Mountain Education Foundation Hosts MEF Dash And Bash April 22

The Mountain Education Foundation's MEF Dash and Bash will be held, rain or shine, on Friday, April 22 at Signal Mountain Middle High from 6-8:30 p.m.  

The MEF Dash and Bash includes a 5K race, a 1 mile run, a Toddler Trot and a street party complete with food, entertainment and activities for the whole family.  One thousand people participated in the inaugural MEF Dash and Bash in 2015. 

The 2nd annual MEF Dash and Bash will kickoff in the SMMHS parking lot.  On site registration will begin at 5 p.m. Hot Spot Yoga owner Jennifer Lockwood will lead race stretch at 5:45 p.m. and the race will start at 6 p.m.  

"There will be fun family activities including a flush tank with beloved Signal Mountain educators and coaches and the Creative Discovery Museum's STEM-mobile," organizers said.  

Other activities include baseball pitch speed gun, basketball shoot-out, charity jail, cookie decorating, corn hole, dodge ball, football toss, colored hair spray, fake casts, inflatables, obstacle course, petting zoo, pretend nails and tattoos, putt-putt, and zombie face painting.

The fun run and street party will raise money for a wide range of needs at the three Signal Mountain public schools:  Nolan Elementary, Thrasher Elementary and SMMHS.  These include staffing, textbooks, classroom technology, science materials, art education and enrichment programs. 

Sign up for the race at www.meftoday.org.  Race registrations are just $25 a person and tickets are just $1 each.  Tickets for the activities and food will also be sold on site.  Walk-up registrations are welcome as well for $30 each.  Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are also available.

"Since 1991, the Mountain Education Foundation has raised more than $6 million to fill the gaps in county funding and provide much-needed assistance to Signal Mountain schools, students and teachers," officials said.
