Tennessee American Water has installed a temporary water line on the Walnut Street Bridge while it makes the repair on the water main underneath the Tennessee River. This line will help with pressure fluctuations for the affected areas in north Chattanooga.

Tennessee American Water coordinated with the City of Chattanooga to secure the necessary right of entry. The line is placed to one side and the bridge remains open for use. The company asks pedestrians to use caution around the water line to avoid tripping.

“We appreciate the community’s patience while we complete the repair as well as the support from the City of Chattanooga,” said Tennessee American Water President Valoria Armstrong. “We know what a special place the walking bridge is to all of us. We want to make sure there is minimal impact so the bridge can still be enjoyed during this temporary arrangement.”

For questions and updates, customers may visit the Tennessee American Water Facebook and Twitter pages as well as call the Customer Service Center at 1-866-736-6420.
