James Appointed Chief Medical Officer Of BlueCare Tennessee

Dr. Jeanne James has been named vice president and chief medical officer of BlueCare Tennessee, the Medicaid managed care subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

Dr. James will oversee and guide medical policy for BlueCare Tennessee, and provide clinical direction on programs to improve health for members.

“We are fortunate to have someone with Dr. James’ expertise and accomplishments leading our medical team,” said Amber Cambron, chief executive officer of BlueCare Tennessee.
“She is committed to finding and supporting effective ways to make quality treatment more accessible for our members.”

Dr. James has more than 20 years of clinical experience, including pediatric academic medical positions and hospital leadership roles. Before assuming the chief medical officer post, she served as medical director for government programs with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. Prior to joining BlueCross in 2013, she served as medical director for Coventry Health Care of Georgia. Dr. James also served as a medical director for the Bureau of TennCare for more than five years.

Board-certified in general pediatrics, Dr. James earned her doctor of medicine degree from University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed a residency in pediatrics at Tulane Medical School. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in physics and anthropology from Emory University.

Dr. James is a member of the American Association of Physician Leadership, the Tennessee Public Health Association, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
