Ruby Avis Glover Meeder, 92, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on June 22, 2016.

She was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Bryant, Al. to Robert and Ella Mae Walker Glover.

Shortly after being honored as valedictorian of her high school class, Ruby met David Meeder, a soldier in the U.S. Army who was nearing deployment to Europe during World War II. Ruby and David fell in love and were married on Sept. 3, 1943, in Syracuse, New York.  Once David was deployed, Ruby returned to Alabama where she taught the children of Hogjaw Valley in a one-room schoolhouse.  Following the end of the war, Ruby and David moved to Chattanooga where they started their family.  After staying home to raise her daughters, she returned to work as an executive secretary for the Tennessee Department of Transportation for over 21 years.

Ruby was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many throughout her lifetime, and was truly a blessing to everyone she knew.

She is survived by her daughters; Judy (Ken) Stegall and Debbie Shepherd; granddaughter, Christa (Sam) Sinagra.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 24, in the funeral home chapel with Minister Mike Gurganus officiating.  Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
