Harold Delano Cothran, Sr., 74, died on June 28, 2016 in a local hospital. 

He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended UTC.  He was employed with WTVC News Channel 9, where he retired; served as general manager of WNOO Radio; Channel 12, Power 94.3, North Star News Paper and also with American General Insurance Company.  Harold also served his country in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division/Special Forces Rangers Unit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Cothran and Luvenia Cothran.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Cothran; children, Karen (Rick) Thompson and Del (Brenda) Cothran; grandchildren, Miranda Yates, Alpharetta, GA; Joshua Cothran, Lydia Cothran, Jared Cothran, Kenny Burke of Miami, FL and Brandon Thompson, Miami, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, in the Chapel with Minister David Seymour, officiating.  Interment will be in the National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Tuesday, July 5, and the family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
