Mocs Soccer Hosts, Murray State, Alabama

 The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer team will take on Murray State Friday evening and return home to host Alabama on Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium.

Scouting Chattanooga (1-1-0)
Chattanooga opened the season with a pair of home matches.
The first was a hard fought battle with Kennesaw State that ended in a 1-0 loss for the Mocs. In the Sunday matchup, UTC came away with an 8-0 victory over Alabama A&M.
 
UTC is seventh in the league standings and tied with Furman for first in points (23), goals (8) and assists (7). The Mocs have a 0.50 goals against average, seventh in the league and tied for ninth with just three saves.
 
Peyton McCollum leads the league with six points while Elli Myrick is third with five and McKenzie Gregg is tied for fith with four. Myrick and McCollum are second in the SoCon standings for goals scored with two each while McCollum and Gregg are tied for second with two assists apiece. Keeper Katie Emig ranks first in the SoCon with a 0.00 goals against average and Melia Correa is ninth with a 1.00 GAA.
 
In the national standings, the Mocs rank fifth for total assists (7) and seventh for assists per game (3.50). Chattanooga is ninth in the NCAA standings or points per game (4.00) and scoring offense (4.00). It’s 10.00 shots on goal per game ranks 27th in the nation and 0.500 shutout percentage is 45th.
 
Emig is ranked first in the NCAA for save percentage (1.000) and goals against average (0.000). Gregg and McCollum are 12th in the nation for assists per game (1.00) and Myrick is 11th for game winning goals (1).  McCollum is 21st for points per game (3.00) and Emig is 20th for shutouts (1).

The Racers season opener at Louisiana Tech was rained out. On Sunday, MSU traveled to Alabama and led 2-0 at halftime. However, the Tide answered with four goals in the second half for the win. Harriet Withers had both goals for Murray State with Aaron Lankster getting the assist on one.
 
This will be the second meeting between the two schools. The Racers earned a 2-1 victory over the Mocs in the game played at Murray State.
 

Alabama opened the season with a pair of home victories. The first was a 5-0 win over Sam Houston State in the opener and then followed it up with a come-from-behind 4-2 win over Murray State. Tori Gann record the first two goals against SHSU. Lacey Clarida scored one goal against Sam Houston State and then had two in the win over Murray State. She leads the team with three goals. Abbie Boswell has a team-best three assists and is second for scoring with five points. Kat Stratton has played all 180 minutes in goal and has five saves (.714) and two goals against.
 
Alabama leads the series 4-1. The Mocs scored a 2-0 win over the Tide in 2003 in Tuscaloosa. Diana Jallo, the all-time leading scorer for the Mocs, scored both goals in the win and was named a National Player of the Week by Soccer America.
