The Chattanooga Symphony and Opera will present 15-time Grammy Award winning banjoist Béla Fleck on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Tivoli Theatre.
Mr. Fleck will be performing Juno, his second project as a solo composer for a classical concerto.
"Juno plays upon the inherent strengths of a symphony orchestra to create a piece that is not only inspired, but takes the banjo to new and exciting heights. While the bulk of Juno is slow and contemplative, playful movements at unexpected times accentuate the banjo’s unique sounds and takes patrons through a wide spectrum of emotions," officials said.
Celebrated globally as a premier banjo player, Mr.
Fleck is a 15-time Grammy Award winner and has been nominated in more categories than any other instrumentalist in Grammy history. Throughout his career, Mr. Fleck has been in multiple progressive bluegrass bands, released standalone albums, and been featured on albums by Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Randy Travis, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Gatlin Brothers, and many others.
