David Edgar Cate, 58, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on Friday, October 13, 2017, in a local hospital.

David was born in Hamilton County on Sept. 27, 1959, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Webb Cate.

He retired from the State of Tennessee after 14 years of service.  David also worked at Unum.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mrs. Linda Kelsay Cate; sister, Nancy (Jeff) Burns of Clayton, NC; children, Kelsay Louise Cate of Chattanooga, Joan Cate (Paul) Bang of Fort Oglethorpe; and aunt, Betty E. Mashburn of Chattanooga; sisters-in-laws, Betsy Kelsay Headrich, Alice Kelsay (Jay) Harmon, Susan Kelsay (Mark) Roberson; and brother-in-law, Andrew Ernest Kelsay.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m. at Wann Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, and from noon until the service on Monday at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery.
