MAINx24 will be Dec. 2 in Chattanooga's Southside

The 11th annual MAINx24 street party will take place on the Southside on Saturday, Dec. 2, starting at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Fire Hall #1.

This year, the $5 pancake breakfast will benefit the Forgotten Child Fund of Chattanooga, a non-profit run by the fire and police departments. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new toy or winter coat to donate to local children in need.

The 24-hour long festival will continue with people in the streets, music in the air and the aromas of Chattanooga food. Events include local shops offering discounts and door prizes, restaurants offering specials, artisans in action, poetry, caroling, music, dancing, food and fun for all ages - all in celebration of Main Street and the surrounding Southside.

For the first time, the festival will include fireworks. Meet on Station Street at 7 p.m. for the best views of the GreenTech Homes Fireworks Display.

Here are other events that are back again this year:

MAINx24 EPB Southside Parade, Main Street, 10:30 a.m.

World Heavyweight Chili Championship supporting Green|Spaces at Office Coordinators, Inc., 11:30 a.m.

Adult Big Wheel Race supporting the Children's Advocacy Center of Hamilton County, at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, 1-4 p.m.

Connect with MainX24 on Facebook to keep up with all the events happening throughout the day, including dozens of kid-friendly activities like face painting and building a holiday ornament, as well as discounts and door prizes at shops up and down Main Street.

I’ll use “hell” as an exclamation point sometimes and I also may quote an aggressor in a story where he threatens to whip another’s “ass.” But our President reached an all-time ... (click for more)
