County Commissioners Are Dead Zeros With Shooting Range

  • Wednesday, November 29, 2017

It was only 11 months ago that developers of a world class shooting range stood in front of the County Commissioners asking for approval to open for business in Hamilton County. They were denied by a vote of 8-1 and ended up opening up the shooting range in Van Buren County to the north. Did our Commissioners not know that we would be faced with needing to find a new location for our LEOs to become proficient?

Do we anticipate that the HCSD will have to travel further away than Bakewell, Tn. to find someone's backyard to shoot in? Will it be as affordable as negotiating a deal with a private range suitable for training? I fear more NIMBY situations when the proposal comes out next spring.
