Berke Says Ticket Revenue Up 87% Since Launch Of Tivoli Foundation; Top Shows Offered

  • Wednesday, February 22, 2017

Mayor Andy Berke said ticket revenue is up 87 percent since the launch of the Tivoli Foundation to manage the Tivoli Theater and Memorial Auditorium.

He also said some top stars are being brought to the local stages.

Mayor Berke said, "Chattanooga shines with a diverse mix of activities and opportunities to engage residents and entice visitors. Already considered a mecca for outdoor sports and activities from Ironman to Head of the Hooch, we are also fast becoming a city to experience first-class music and entertainment.

"The groundwork for this burgeoning scene was laid over the decades by musicians, actors, venue owners, eager audiences, non-profits, and many more. Their passion and dedication have paved the way and through initiatives like the community-led Chattanooga Forward process, we can help promote, support, and continue to grow their hard work.

"One of the ways the City has done this is through major changes at two historic Chattanooga venues -- the Tivoli Theater and the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Auditorium. Just a year and a half after creating the independent Tivoli Foundation, those changes have already had a major impact.

"Looking back at the latest numbers, these two city-owned facilities have increased ticket revenue by 87 percent - that comes out to over $1.8 million. Recent sold-out shows like legend Bob Dylan, country music classic Loretta Lynn, comedian Dave Chappelle, and Broadway musicals Dirty Dancing and Chicago not only has Chattanoogans buzzing with excitement, it's seen the usage rate at both venues skyrocket.

"With usage rates at just 30 percent in years past, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a night when the marquee at either venue isn't lit with the promise of a great show in the nights to come.I hope you will take some time over the coming months to experience a show at the Tivoli or Memorial. With more Broadway musicals to catch (including Rent and Annie) as well as a variety of exciting Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra (CSO) events, comedy shows, and concerts, there is no doubt you will find something to pique your interest."
