Frances Virginia Costello Richie, 84, of Signal Mountain, passed away at Alexian Village on Sunday, August 13, 2017.

Virginia was a native of Chattanooga, born on Sept. 13, 1932, and had lived on Signal Mountain for over 30 years. She was a gifted artist, and enjoyed her time working at Hunter Art Museum. She later became a real estate broker. Virginia was a loving wife and mother, and devoted grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Jean (Raulston) Costello, and her two sisters, Mary Jean Costello Himburg and Kathryn Costello Cordell.

She will be greatly missed by those who are left to cherish her memory, including her husband of 66 years, Robert Eugene Richie Sr.; son, Robert Eugene Richie Jr. and his wife, Mary Jo; daughter, Pamela Richie Lee and her husband, Geoffrey; granddaughter, Lauren Michelle Richie; granddaughter, Taylor Frances Elliott and her husband, Benjamin; granddaughter, Kourtney Lee Barnett and her husband, Courtney; grandson, Geoffrey Lee II and his wife, Candice; great grandson, Kelby Cade Barnett; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 1-3 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Reverend Sean Landes officiating. 

The family would like to give special thanks for the care given at both Morning Pointe of Hixson Assisted Living and at Alexian Village.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
